FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A West Coast executive in the McClatchy news organization has been named publisher of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The newspaper reports that Ryan Mote has been vice president of strategic advertising for The Sacramento Bee and McClatchy's Western region. The Sacramento, California-based company, which owns the Star-Telegram, announced Thursday that the 39-year-old executive will begin work in Fort Worth on Nov. 5.
The Star-Telegram reports that he'll succeed Sean Burke, who has resigned "to pursue new opportunities." Mote also will serve as vic president of strategic advertising for McClatchy's Central region, including The Kansas City Star, Wichita Eagle and Belleville (Illinois) News-Democrat.
Mote was with McClatchy and The Bee for four years after holding leadership positions with Freedom Communications and the Gannett newspaper organization.
