Tapa the World: Authentic Spanish Cuisine in a Delighful Atmosphere
It's entirely possible that Sacramento's Tapa the World ranks among the most romantic dinner venues in the city-- and for good reason. This Sac hot spot is a festive mix of traditional Spanish decor and all of its colorful glory and decadent authentic dishes that border on sexy.
Tapa the World's menu serves up authentic small plates (tapas) that might be tiny, but are positively huge on flavor. The Spanish paella, which is Tapa's most famous dish, features saffron rice with yummy add-ins like chorizo, shrimp, scallops, mussels, chicken and crisp vegetables. Traditional seafood (Mariscos), Combination (Mixtos) and Vegetarian (Vegetariana) varietes are available. Paella orders can take up to an hour to make on busy nights, and require a minimum of two people ordering, as it is a shared dish.
Other delicious menu items include grilled venison, leg of lamb ragout (Spanish wine, turnips, spinach, mushrooms, carrots and potatoes over couscous), a pesto chicken sandwich (with roasted red peppers, spinach and feta crumbles in a warm pita), Marcos Pollo (sauteed chicken, organic tomato, olives, garlic, spinach and mashed potatoes) and Lomo de Cordero (grilled lamb tenderloin with saffron and mushroom rice, and Rioja, Avocado and Balsamic sauces).
After dinner, head next door to the famous Kasbah Lounge for some tantalizing belly dancing and a few cocktails. Low lighting and exotic decor make Kasbah a bit indulgent and all kinds of fun. Moroccan tapas are also available, as are authentic beverages.
Dress is casual. Reservations are helpful as the facility is usually quite busy, especially on weekends.
