Esquire IMAX Theatre: It's the BIG Time
Sacramento’s Esquire IMAX Theatre features the largest screen in the city, putting viewers right in the middle of the cinematic action. Located on the first floor of the Esquire Tower, this eight-story mega-movie masterpiece is unlike any other theater in the area.
Esquire IMAX offers both traditional 2D and impressive 3D movie experiences that are sure to make your favorite flicks memorable. The uncompressed, digital, wrap-around sound system and stunning visual effects will leave you positively speechless no matter what part of the theater you’re sitting in.
The 3D experience at IMAX is certainly a distinct one. Miles away from a typical 3D movie, the IMAX Theater uses a special 240-pound projector that runs IMAX-exclusive film, which is ten times the size of regular movie theater film. The 3D projector runs two visual reels at once, meshing the two together to create a tantalizing filmic effect that that makes movie-goers feel as if they’re actually in the movie itself.
In addition to popular national and international films, the IMAX also shows exclusive features that you can’t view anywhere else. Films like Hubble 3D put viewers in the middle out outer space—or so it feels. For a complete listing of showtimes and ticket availability, click here.
Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and $13 for children. Additional fees might be applicable for certain films. For more information on the Esquire IMAX Theatre, click here.
